DS:
"How times change, eh? Super Smash Bros for Wii U is pretty much exactly what you'd expect from a Smash Bros game - and if this were just a few years ago, I wouldn't have been happy with that.
But gaming has moved on to a world of penny-pinching and rationed-out content, so a very Nintendo game made in a very Nintendo way isn't just good - it's welcome. Refreshing, even."

In his latest Miiverse post, Super Smash Bros. series director Masahiro Sakurai acknowledges the European launch of Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, which is now available in the region in stores and on the Nintendo eShop for Wii U. Sakurai also talks about the Wii U-exclusive Wrecking Crew stage, where walls are destroyed when bombs explode. Additionally, when there are only two panels or less holding up a floor, the floor will crash down, making the stage change constantly. Sakurai warns that you might get stuck inside a metal barrel that falls from above, after which other players can attack you until you get yourself out.

Allow me to put on my old man hat for a second and lament the loss of a better, nocent age.
Before the internet turned multiplayer into a maelstrom of violent verbal imagery (probably involving your mum) gamers were once forced to share rooms with those they competed against.
Anyone with more than two decades under their belt probably has a fond memories of local multiplayer - marathon Mario Kart secessions, high-pressure winner-stays-on Street Fighter tournaments at the arcade, slappers-only Goldeneye and win or lose those experiences formed the foundation on which a life-long passion was built.

The amiibo is Nintendos first entry into the toy to life platform. Unlike the Skylanders or Disney Infinity equivalents, the amiibo can receive data as well as send it, and functions outside of a solitary franchise. Nintendos smart toy line can currently be used with Mario Kart 8, Hyrule Warriors, and Super Smash Bros for Wii U. Support is also slated for Super Smash Bros.for 3DS, Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker, Mario Party 10, Yoshis Wooly World, and Animal Crossing, with many more titles hinted at going forward, like Pikmin.
Currently the Smash amiibo are in the first wave of releases, with two more coming by February. The functionality with other games is simple, but our focus today is the amiibo support for Super Smash Bros. for Wii U. Quite frankly, its pretty amazing.
